Extended Bio for Farrah Sabado
New York, New York
Farrah Mana Lastas Sabado (aka Miss Sabado) was born and raised between Los Angeles and San Francisco, paying frequent visits to her home country, the Philippines. She now resides in New York City where she models during the day and disc jockeys at night.
Farrah has always been a lover of music. As a budding young lass, she underwent classical training in piano and singing, and in her teen years mastered the alto saxophone in the jazz and concerto style. Those laborious years were abruptly interrupted by a sudden infatuation with old school punk rock and new-wave 80s, leaving her stripped of coherent senses and yearning for more freedom from formal training.
This combination of experiences, however, is the basis in which her signature style springs from. Her mixes are slightly heady, but melodic and full of texture and layers. “I feel like I am a conductor and each song acts as its own instrument contributing to the overall mood, message, and harmony of the piece. These days it’s hard to stick to one specific style or genre, so I draw from all over the map. With all the new music being released, not doing so would be a disservice. Just as long as you love it and you execute it with conviction, anything goes.”
Likewise, her focus is more about paying homage to her favorite musical elements and trying to maintain integrity about them. “Taking people on a ride and evoking emotion are my main concerns. I would like for people to fall in love with the music and have a real deep connection to it like I do.”
Farrah’s grasp of this also plays out in her understanding of paying duty to the audience as a performer. She never fails to look like she’s hot off the runway, and she also sings original material and plays live saxophone over her sets. A true visionary artist!
